Plant Some Soul Food Vegetables This Spring

Chandler's is Deli/soul food restaurant's vegetable menu. It's located in East Knoxville, Tennessee. I was there and the University of Tennessee last month. The restaurant is apparently a hot spot for UT coaches and athletes. It's a “taste almost like my mom’s food” type of place.

Doing some posts on spring gardening for those of you who love eat locally and cook fresh herbs and vegetables. If you are trying to figure out what other vegetables you should plant, do two things: check with the local county agent in your area who can recommend that best crops for your topography. Second take a look on the menu of any good soul food restaurant like the one I have posted above from Chandler's Deli a soul food restaurant in East Knoxville, Tennessee. I took some photos including this one of the eateries vegetable menu. The menu provides a great list of vegetables anyone series about eating locally and soul food should plant in their garden. Say what you like, but there is a difference in the taste of a dish made with fresh grown produce and there is a difference between organic and non organic produce. Some things you can grow others look for in your local farmers market in the area where you live. If you don’t have one, organize with members of your community and advocate for one.
