Making lump meat crab cake at Faidleys in Lexinton, Market. Jumbo lump meat crab cake recipe below.
When I visited the Lexington Market in Baltimore City last month, my guide, my cousin Charlie brought me straight to Faidleys seafood a takeout eatery that sells local specials such as lake trout, Maryland Crab soup, and its signature item lump meat crab cakes. For health reasons, I avoid eating scavengers like crab, scallops, lobster, and shrimp only eating them on rare occasion. Glad I tried the crab cake it was excellent. Well seasoned and thus it didn’t need in special sauce, just some lettuce and tomato and I was good to go. These are not cheap selling for 12.95 each or 18.95 with a platter. Faidleys is white owned with black folks in the kitchen and behind the cash register. The price of the crab cake limits the customer pool to well to do customers; as you can see in my photo above, most of the customers the day I visited were apparently middle and upper class white folks. In short, food is good indicator of one’s social class. Charlie and I ordered some crab cakes with half and halves (large cup filled with ice and equal parts of ice tea and lemonade).
