It Still Christmas: Feast of the Three Kings

Three Kings bread, recipes below

You’ve heard the song the Twelve Days of Christmas. But, what does that actually mean? Most folks celebrate Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with a special meal. But some also celebrate the Twelve days after Christmas on January 6th. The Day of Epiphany or the appearance of Christ to gentiles as the Christ. This celebration is rooted in studies of the bible and a calendar in which some hold the belief that January 6th is when the Three Wise Men came to Bethlehem to see the baby Jesus. What I find interesting is how this holiday has a very long history dating back to the Middle Ages but with different names across the Atlantic world. Catholics settlers in Latin America dubbed it the day of the three kings. Among Latin Americans today, perhaps Cuban are best known for this celebration; they prepare an elaborate feast with many traditional Cuban dishes including a whole roasted pig. Here are two traditional Three Kings bread recipes below you can try.
